EU’s Common Agricultural Policy

The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) is one of the oldest policies in the EU. After more than a decade of food shortages and hunger after the Second World War, it was introduced in 1962 to increase agricultural production, guarantee food safety, protect the quality of life of farmers and stabilize markets while maintaining reasonable prices for consumers. Every seven years, the CAP is renewed; the new one must be introduced in 2021 and will face new challenges to align with sustainability objectives, protect biodiversity and the environment. Our partner, Slow Food International, has written an interesting article where you can find the key information related to this topic.
