Explore the six projects selected within the MMFN Secretariat grants call for promotion and dissemination Events

 ‍

The Mediterranean Model Forest Network is ready to announce the six initiatives selected in the 2025 call for promotion and dissemination events. Each project showcases the creativity, diversity, and community spirit of our Network:


Ifrane Model Forest (Morocco): training on ancestral nomadic grazing practices.
Istria Model Forest (Croatia): Festival of Forests and Forest Products 2025.
Atlas-Midelt Model Forest (Morocco): cultural and environmental event in Midelt Province.
Provence Model Forest (France): 9th edition of the Cork Oak Weekend.
Valle dell’Aterno Model Forest (Italy): Festa Foresta 2025, a participatory community event.
Western Macedonia Model Forest (Greece): Inclusive Forest Experience in Velventos.

 

These initiatives, ranging from festivals and training to inclusive forest experiences, will engage communities, promote sustainable forest management, and celebrate Mediterranean forest heritage.

Provence Model Forest launches 2025 “Week-end du Chêne-Liège” celebration

 ‍

The Provence Model Forest is once again shining a spotlight on one of the most emblematic species of the Mediterranean landscape: the cork oak. On October 18–19, 2025, the association will host the Week-end du Chêne-Liège at the historic Domaine de Baudouvin in La Valette-du-Var, France.

 

The initiative highlights the vital role of cork oak forests, not only in supporting local economies but also in providing key ecosystem services, such as biodiversity conservation, fire resilience, and climate change mitigation.

Promoting Inclusion: Western Macedonia Model Forest Showcases Tools at Mental Health Festival

 ‍

On 5 September, the Western Macedonia Model Forest took part in the 3rd Mental Health Festival “Let’s Get Together”, organized by the Region of Western Macedonia, the Municipality of Kozani, and the Mental Health and Psychosocial Rehabilitation Organization for Patients (E.P.S.Y.K.A.), at the Municipal Park Garden of Kozani.


The event highlighted the importance of mental health and the fight against stigma, while also giving citizens the opportunity to learn more about the organizations working in the field of mental health, their activities, and the services they provide.

Status of Mediterranean Forests 2025 is out now!

 ‍

FAO and Silva Mediterranea just released the 2025 edition of the Status of Mediterranean Forests.

 

Building on past editions, the report assesses the condition and trends of Mediterranean forests, highlighting key challenges such as degradation, biodiversity loss, climate change impacts, and wildfire risks. It also showcases nature-based solutions, from integrated fire management to ecosystem restoration, to strengthen resilience across the region. A vital resource to guide action for healthier Mediterranean landscapes.

Shape the Future of Nature-Based Therapies - Join the RESONATE Survey

The RESONATE project invites you to share your views on nature-based therapies and their role in enhancing health and well-being.

 

This anonymous, 25-30 minute online survey is open to all and available in English, Italian, Spanish, and German. Your insights will contribute to shaping inclusive, evidence-based approaches to nature-based health interventions across Europe. Participation is voluntary, and you can pause and resume the survey at your convenience.
