How can forests fix the economy? The Mediterranean Network took part in TalkLandscape, the Global Landscape Forum live podcast

 ‍

Forests are homes, climate regulators, and sources of food, water, and cultural value. But can they also drive an economic transformation that safeguards both livelihoods and the environment?

TalkLandscape is a live podcast for a general audience that explores stories and solutions at the intersection of landscapes, communities, and sustainability. Powered by the Global Landscape Forum, the latest episode featured Toni Ventre, General Secretary of the Mediterranean Model Forest Network (MMFN); Abdelkrim Marzouk, President of the Ifrane Model Forest; and Beria (Lei) Leimona, Theme Leader for Climate Change, Energy, and Low-Carbon Development at CIFOR-ICRAF.

Valle dell’Aterno puts Model Forest values into action with Festa Foresta 2025

 ‍

On Saturday 1 November 2025, the Foresta Modello Valle dell’Aterno (FMVA) held its annual “Festa Foresta 2025” in the charming setting of Goriano Valli, a hamlet of Tione degli Abruzzi in the Province of L’Aquila. The event offered a full-day programme of excursions, educational workshops, a local market and shared conviviality, highlighting the FMVA model of participatory forest and territory management.

The event was co-financed by the Call for Promotion and Dissemination Events, within the MMFN Secretariat Grants as a meaningful example of good practice: mobilising community engagement, animating territorial ecosystems with shared governance of forests, and combining education, production, tourism and craftsmanship in mountain settings.
