A second edition of the Festival of Forest and Forest Fruits was held in Model Forest Istria on the sunny Sunday of 19th November. After last year's edition the Festival was named a “Hit Festival” as it was visited by around 2000 visitors from all the Region of Istria and neighboring city of Rijeka.

Last week, Toni Ventre, on behalf of secretariat of the MMFN, participated in the Sixth Advisory Group and Knowledge-Sharing Event of the Forest and Landscape Restoration Mechanism. The event was held in Rome, at the FAO headquarter.

This summer has been a very exciting period for our Network. Just before the visit of the IMFN’s representative, two new territories formalize the willingness to join the Network by establishing a MF initiative. We are talking about Albania, with the Administrative Unit of Voskopoje, and Lebanon, with the Shouf Biosphere Reserve.

Last week we were in Tartu, Estonia, for the last General Assembly (GA) of the ONEForest project. The project is funded within the H2020 program of the European Commission and involves the Secretariat together with three Model Forest of the Network: Montagne Fiorentine, Provence and Istria.

Last week in Carnoules, France, took place the Annual Meeting of the Forêt Modèle de Provence. It was a special one because it celebrated 10 years as a Model Forest in the Mediterranean Network!

From May 15th to 19th 2023 in Portugal will take place the 8th International Wildland Fire Conference. These conferences are aimed at promoting exchange of expertise and international cooperation in wildland fire management gathering thousands of participants around the world and overseen by The International Liaison Committee (ILC), serving as an advisory and liaison body to the hosts of the conferences.
