‍The MMFN at FAO to talk about the Forest and Landscape Restoration Mechanism

‍Last week, Toni Ventre, on behalf of secretariat of the MMFN, participated in the Sixth Advisory Group and Knowledge-Sharing Event of the Forest and Landscape Restoration Mechanism. The event was held in Rome, at the FAO headquarter.

In four days of work, the progress of various FLRM projects were presented by representatives from around the world, especially in the most sensitive areas of the Planet: from Burkina Faso to Fiji, from Pakistan to Malawi, to name but a few. Various sources of funding for projects worth tens of millions of euros whose urgency is not only not in question, but is leading to a growing financial commitment from international bodies and major government agencies in countries participating in FAO's FLRM.

FOREST4EU - Join the policy focus groups!

 ‍

Tuscany Region is partner of the FOREST4EU, a Horizon Europe project aiming at connecting existing Operational Groups (OGs) from different countries around Europe, to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and best practices between experts in this field.

The uptake of Operational Groups in forestry and agroforestry differs largely between the EU Member States. To address this issue, the FOREST4EU project sets up three policy focus groups, seeking to improve the framework conditions for innovation in forestry and agroforestry.

If you are an expert in rural development, forest and/or innovation policy, and want to join the groups, submit the expression of interest in English by using the online form until December 1st, 2023!

LoCoFoRest training programme

 ‍

Are you a young professional interested in forest restoration and rural social, economic and ecological development? Apply to the 4th call international training programme, now open until 18th December 2023.

 

The LoCoFoRest (Locally Controlled Forest Restoration) training programme focuses on one critical question: How can we scale up restoration of forest landscapes while securing the prosperity of local communities and maintaining and improving ecosystem services?

 

The programme will give participants the skills and knowledge to enrich their organizations’ capacity to support local communities and entrepreneurs to make forest and landscape restoration scalable and to take advantage of new value chains and the growing demands of a biobased economy.
