Report from the 8th IWFC in Porto

On May 17th our Secretariat took part in a panel organized by the Canadian government and the International Model Forest Network, within the 8th International Wildland Fire Conference, in Portugal.

 

The session “Social Participation and Local Fire Governance through International Networks” aimed to discuss and share experiences of the participatory roles of various stakeholders required for local governance of fire and landscape management and was moderated by Dr. Chelene Hanes, from the Canadian Forest Service (CFS).

MMFN at the 2023 ERIAF Annual Conference

 ‍

In a few days we will be in Bolzano for the 2023 ERIAF Annual Conference that this year is dedicated to the Green and Climate Transition Plans in agriculture and in agroforestry systems.

Riccardo Castellini, on behalf of the Secretariat, will participate at the roundtable on “Resilient landscapes from a regional perspective: from science to policy”.

The objective is to bring together representatives from as many regions as possible, combining regional authorities or administrations, innovation actors, local representatives, enterprises, forest owners and other stakeholders. It will be presented a collage of initiatives at different levels, working with different resources and value chains, that will allow to draw conclusions valid in different contexts.

Project Manager – Forest Expert job opportunity

 

Oikos, a non-profit organization that operates in Europe and in the South of the world to safeguard biodiversity and to promote the widespread adoption of more sustainable lifestyles, is looking for a Project Manager (PM) with technical background as forest biologist / forest agronomy / agroecology expert.

The selected candidate will coordinate the overall management of the project “MediterRE3: Restoring the Resilience of Mediterranean landscapes” with support from the Programme Manager of the International Cooperation Department and of the Project Administrator of Istituto Oikos. The project promotes the reduction of fire-related GHG emissions in 3 target landscapes in Greece, Montenegro and France, by enhancing the capacities of decision and policy makers and practitioners on the application of Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) principles for the fire-smart restoration of landscapes.
