As part of the celebrations linked to the 30th anniversary of the International Model Forest Network, the Western Macedonia Model Forest Initiative organized two days dedicated to environmental education. The celebrations will be held on 17-18 September and all activities aim to make the young generations aware of the territory and the principles of sustainability of the Model Forests, but also to sensitize them to the natural environment that surrounds them. In short, two days full of activities to celebrate in the forest!
Here is the program:
SATURDAY, 17th SEPTEMBER
9:00 am - Meeting at the Mikrokastro school, to leave together by bus
9:10 am - Departure for the public forest of Voio
9:45 am - 1st stage: Introduction and information on the creation of the first Model Forest in Greece
10:15 am - 2nd stage: Environmental Education on wood and non-wood forest products (mushrooms, fruits and nuts), observation and harvesting of the same.
11:15 am - 3rd stage: Forest therapy
12:00 pm - 4th stage: Visit to a farm of aromatic plants (lavender, roses, oregano, sage)
1:00 pm - 5th stage: Visit to a black truffle farm
2:00 pm - Return to Mikrokastro to the starting point
SUNDAY, 18th SEPTEMBER
12:00 pm - Meeting point in the pavilion of the Western Macedonia Model Forest initiative, in the kiosk at the entrance
12:30 pm - Environmental education activities (games) for children in the Kouri forest
2:00 pm - End of event
