The Mediterranean Model Forest Network Secretariat (MMFNs) is leading a two-year project supported by Canada’s Global Forest Leadership Program. The main goal is to foster Forest and Landscape Restoration (FLR) in Mediterranean countries, especially in those eligible for Official Development Assistance (ODA), like Morocco, Algeria, and Lebanon. The project combines communication, digital tools, and youth engagement to support local communities and their territories in ecological restoration.

In the territory of Istria Model Forest, on March 25, 2025, the final meeting was held as part of the Erasmus+ KA2 project “In the Forest as in the Classroom”.
The project brought together partners from Croatia and Slovenia with the aim of developing and promoting forest pedagogy – an innovative approach to learning through outdoor activities and time spent in nature. The lead partner of the project is Istria Model Forest.
From March 28 to 30, a group of researchers, stakeholders, institutional representatives, and advisors from the Valle Aterno Model Forest traveled to Istria for a study trip, as part of the activities in the second phase of the FOR.TA.BIO Project (Forest Biodiversity Truffles).
On April 9, 2025, the municipality of Ledigos in Palencia, Spain, celebrated the International Day of Forests with a symbolic tree planting event organized by the Palencia Model Forest. Originally scheduled for March but postponed due to heavy rains, the event featured the planting of 91 trees, each representing one of the 91 municipalities that comprise the Palencia Model Forest territory.
